What does consignment mean? It means individuals like yourself bring items to us that we sell for you. It benefits you, us, the local economy, and the environment!
Unlike most consignment boutiques, we do not charge a consignor set-up or annual fee.
WHAT WE TAKE:
• Womens & Mens (ages 18-35) clothing, jewelry, accessories, & footwear in excellent condition.
• Current styles purchased new within the past 1-3 years.
• Or Vintage (pre-80s especially), retro and unique items.
• Items bought from places such as: Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Bloomingdales, Anthropologie, Jcrew, Urban Outfitters, Free People, Ruche, Modcloth, Revolve Clothing, Banana Republic, Independent Designers, etc.
• More limitedly we take brands like: H&M, Forever 21, Gap, American Apparel, Nine West, Target, etc.
Note:
• Shoes should be in excellent condition, name brands or vintage, and clean.
• Designer items must be authentic. It is illegal to sell knock-off designer purses, shoes, clothing, wallets, etc regardless of our awareness, so please be sure that the item you are bringing in is authentic. Some items with tags on them from other name brands which might resemble designers may be acceptable. Please show us what you have.
•We take items seasonally:
February- April (SPRING), May-July (SUMMER), August-October (FALL), November-January (WINTER).
We DO NOT Take:
• Baby or children's clothes (exceptions may be made for vintage)
• Sneakers, Suits and Formal wear
• Pet products
• Curtains and Bedding
• Toys or stuffed animals
• Electronics
• CDs/Video Games
• Clothing from discount stores
• Undergarments or Lingerie (exceptions may be made for vintage)
• Used perfumes or toiletries
• Large appliances or large used household items
HOW TO CONSIGN:
1. You can drop off items within the first 2 weeks of every month. We prefer you come by on a Monday, Thursday, or Friday between 12-4, no appointment necessary (We are closed Tuesday & Wednesday). You can come on a weekend preferably between 12-2. Please bring 10 items or less at a time. You will have the option to wait while we look through your items or you may come back at a later time. We do not charge a consignor fee.
2. Presort & Prepare:
When consigning, all clothing and accessories should be looked through carefully and:
• In ready-to-sell condition and fit for the season.
• Freshly washed even if it has been sitting in your closet (be sure to check for and pre-treat stains).
• Buttoned/zippered/fastened, without odors, tears, pilling, stains or pet hair.
• With zippers, buttons, and other fasteners present and in working order.
• Without wrinkles.
3. We will look through your items and choose which to sell. Please do not be offended if we turn down an item; we have a specific target market and limited rack space.
4. Items will later be added to the store (may take 1-2 weeks), you will then be e-mailed a store inventory sheet with the prices. You can also check your inventory online during your consignment period.
BLACKBIRD ATTIC CONSIGNMENT TERMS:
Pricing:
We price items at approximately 1/3 to 1/2 the original price depending on the item and its condition. If you have a concern or issue with pricing, please discuss during drop off and/or contact us upon receipt of your inventory list.
We reserve the right to set the price based on current resale value and to offer these items on a sale or discounted basis depending on condition and amount of time they remain in the shop.
• Full price will be charged for the first 30 days.
• A 10-30% off discount price may be offered after 30 days.
• Items that have not sold after 60 days will be displayed in our clearance section with a 50% discount up to 90 days unless otherwise agreed. There may be an exception made for designer or vintage pieces.
• After 90 days, items may be donated or returned to Consignor.
• The term will begin the day each item is put on the sales floor (as noted on your inventory list).
Payouts:
• You will receive 40% of the selling price
• If we price an item over $300, you will receive 60% of the selling price.
• All payouts are paid through electronic check (from Chase Bank) on a monthly basis and are mailed to the address indicated on the consignment contract (Make sure to update us if your address changes).
Unsold Items:
• Each item has a term of 90 days on our sales floor as outlined above.
• After 60 days, you may come to pick up the unsold merchandise before it goes in the clearance 50% off section. Items not claimed after 7 days of the end of the consignment period become the property of Blackbird Attic and may be sold on our sale rack or donated to a local charity unless other-wise agreed. If you would like any of your items returned, please make arrangements prior to the 7-day deadline.
Consignment Contract:
This agreement is made on (date)________________ between Blackbird Attic, 442 Main St, Beacon, NY herein referred to as "Consignee", and (you)________________________________ , hereinafter referred to as “Consignor”.
By consigning said item(s) to the Consignee for sale, it is understood:
•That Consignee agrees to display item(s) in a prominent place in the establishment.
•That Consignee will make every attempt to obtain the best possible price.
•That for its efforts Consignee is entitled to a percentage of sales price as outlined in the attached Policy made a part hereof.
•That should a sale be effectuated, Consignee shall forward a check for the amount of the full purchase price less the aforementioned percent to Consignee within 30 days of the end of the month of the sale period.
•According to this Agreement and any applicable laws, Consignor retains ownership of property until said property is sold, returned or donated. Consignee shall abide by all applicable rules, laws and regulations regarding agency of said items and Consignor retains responsibility for said items while they are in the possession of Consignee awaiting sale.
•Consignor hereby declares that he/she is the owner of the consigned property and/or has the authority to sell said property.
•Consignor hereby declares that all designer and name-brand merchandise are authentic as subject to copyright, patent, trademark and other laws.
•That should the merchandise remain unsold at the end of the consignment period an election may be made by the Consignor to remove said merchandise or have it donated as outlined in the Policy portion of this agreement.
